Use case: Germany’s corona warning app
The more smartphone owners in Germany install and activate the corona warning app on their smartphones, the better infection chains can be detected and interrupted in time by contact tracing.
The app was generally rated very positively. Especially the initial concerns about user privacy were addressed. However, on the day of the app’s release, many health authorities were called by users and asked about how the Corona-Warn-App works. In our usability study we used eye-tracking to find out how intuitive it is to install the app and whether the technical support hotline is easy to find.
